NSFW Content
« on: January 05, 2018, 08:23:59 am »
I've just seen the recent thread in the issues subforum and wanted to give my two cents.
I feel like whether a video with pornographic content in it is to be disallowed on the site should depend on its purpose. If it's for, you know, the most obvious thing, then it belongs somewhere else. If its main purpose is say, being a music video, a comedy sketch, educational stuff or a political message, even if it consists of intercourse almost exclusively - then it should be okay.
What do you think?

I think that's about right, there may be a few gray areas we need to cover off over time. About 50 shades of gray areas :)

I don't see the point of uploading just straight up porn to this site =\ afterall there's various other sites that are not only broad/general, but extremely niche as well.  There's user generated porn sites for gays, straights, asians and I shit you not, gay interracial midget amputee BDSM stump fisting content.

Also, sometimes it's best not to ask.

I hear what you are saying, we have actually ruled it out in our terms but expect people will do it anyway.

I do understand the "Pornographic content is a form of free expression" argument myself.

Totally agree ... in fact, porn would scare some people away and will bring bad publicity ... there is plenty of that stuff out there ...

Very Very bad idea as this could cause filters to come into play, also..

If Bitchute keeps shaping up, as has been doing so far, to be a Serious alternative to more of the same old same old, people should be seeing a crystal ball glowing and humming, if not also physically trembling, with the potential of an army of enemies that will stop at Nothing to protect their own interests or platforms.

This YT purge could be a much deeper and far more insidious thing than I can state coherently at the moment. Tomorrow I will try to do exactly that, bouncing from a video by Atheism is Unstoppable featuring a very 'special' young Madam with the initials Z.Q.

I hear the freedom of expression thing but think journalofparadox has it right, nuff of that stuff out there already. Keep the credibility kudos factor of an already established beachhead to maximize the long-term potential.

There is a reason why the 'age of consent' exists ... this has nothing to do with free expression ... there is a line that needs to be drawn somewhere ...

Just realized it was The Garden that was leaning to the "nuff of that stuff" direction. My bad..

Agreed. Children's minds are highly malleable, vulnerable to manipulation, and unable to defend themselves. That kind of content is not moral (it is the very depiction of exploitation) and I would go so far as to argue it isn't even speech.

People have the right to say obnoxious things, not to do obnoxious things. There's a difference between saying you'll hit somebody and actually doing it.

As for conventional porn, it's generally not restricted in any unreasonable sense, and I do raise the question if it is actually speech.

Whilst I support BitChute taking on the general audience of video developers - like gamers, music artists, animators etc - it's usually in the implied context so they're free to actually say something (music artists have been jailed for making rap lyrics, I kid you not). I like the Supreme Court's litmus test of 'is it actually speech?' (although disagree with their misapplication under Citizens United that 'money' constitutes 'speech').
Power in absence.
